How Can I Get Rid of Dark Spots?

How professional resurfacing and the right homecare work together to help keep pigment at bay

A peel resurfaces. The right homecare helps keep pigment at bay.

If you’ve looked in the mirror lately and wondered, “Why am I seeing more dark spots?” you’re not alone.

Pigmentation can be frustrating. You may be getting facials, wearing sunscreen, and trying different products, yet still notice sun spots, melasma, post-breakout marks, or uneven areas becoming more visible.

At The Salt and Light Spa, we don’t look at pigmentation as something one treatment or one product is going to fix. We approach it from both directions.

First, We Resurface

A professional peel helps remove excess surface buildup and gives us an opportunity to work more intentionally on visible pigmentation, uneven texture, and sun damage.

But that does not mean your skin has to leave extremely red or irritated.

Redness isn’t the goal. Correction is.

We use customized DNA professional peels and choose the acid and intensity according to the skin in front of us. Sometimes controlled resurfacing is exactly what your skin needs. Sometimes your skin is ready for something more intensive. We can do both.

Intensity should have a reason.

Why We Choose DNA Peels

There is a reason we chose DNA for The Salt and Light Spa. Their professional peel system aligns with our clean, skin-supportive approach and gives us the ability to customize the treatment based on what your skin actually needs.

  • Lacto: may be selected when skin is dry, sensitive, or needs a more controlled starting point.
  • Glycolic: may be used when we are focusing on pigmentation, texture, visible sun damage, or signs of aging.
  • Sal: may be appropriate for breakouts, clogged pores, oil, or stronger resurfacing.

And sometimes we combine approaches. Your peel should fit your skin — not the other way around.

Then, We Keep Supporting Pigment at Home

A peel is a great start. But if pigmentation is the concern, we don’t want to only work on what we can see during your appointment. The right homecare helps support that same goal every day.

Support Your Results at Home with MediClear Gel

DNA MediClear Gel provides natural melanin-inhibiting support to help keep excess pigment at bay and encourage a more even-looking complexion.

It may be especially helpful for:

  • Sun spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Melasma
  • Post-breakout discoloration
  • Visible sun damage
  • Uneven-looking skin tone

Why Pigment Needs Consistency

Pigmentation usually isn’t a one-appointment concern. One peel can create a fresh start, but meaningful correction often requires consistency.

For some clients, that may mean regular customized facials. For others, we may recommend additional focused peel treatments between facials when the skin is appropriate for more resurfacing.

We don’t believe in simply doing more because stronger sounds better. We want correction — not unnecessary inflammation.

We Strengthen Skin First, Then Refine It

If your skin is healthy and ready for more intensive resurfacing, we can progress your peel. If you’re new to us, your barrier needs support, or we don’t yet know how your skin responds, we may intentionally begin differently.

The goal isn’t one dramatic appointment. It’s creating a thoughtful plan that supports healthier-looking skin over time.

Ready to Start Working on Your Pigmentation?

You don’t have to decide which peel, acid, strength, or homecare product is right for you. That’s our job.

Book a customized facial and let one of our estheticians look at your skin, talk through what you’re seeing, and create a plan specifically for you.

A peel resurfaces. The right homecare helps keep pigment at bay.
