Why Our Chemical Peels Are Different

How customized DNA peels support meaningful correction without chasing unnecessary inflammation

At The Salt and Light Spa, we want correction – not unnecessary inflammation.

If you think a chemical peel has to leave your skin red, irritated, and visibly shedding to be effective, we want to change the way you think about peeling.

At The Salt and Light Spa, we customize professional resurfacing according to your skin, your goals, and the level of correction you actually need. Sometimes that means controlled resurfacing with very little visible reaction. Sometimes your skin is ready for something more intensive. We can do both.

The difference is simple: intensity should have a reason.

Why We Chose DNA Professional Peels

Not all chemical peels are created the same. DNA’s professional peel system aligns with our approach to clean, professional skincare: naturally derived professional acids, toxin-free skincare, no chemical preservatives, no artificial fragrance, and the ability to customize the treatment to the skin in front of us.

Lacto may be selected for dry or more sensitive skin. Glycolic may be chosen when we are focusing on texture, pigmentation, visible sun damage, or signs of aging. Sal may be appropriate for oil, breakouts, clogged pores, or when stronger resurfacing is appropriate.

And sometimes, the best treatment means combining approaches. Your peel should fit your skin – not the other way around.

DNA professional peels allow us to choose and customize the level of resurfacing for each guest.

Why We Do Not Chase Inflammation

A stronger sensation does not automatically mean a better treatment. Chronic or unnecessary inflammation can contribute to visible skin aging, which is one reason we do not create irritation simply to make a treatment feel more powerful.

Instead, your esthetician considers your skin barrier, current homecare, treatment history, goals, and how your skin is functioning that day before choosing the appropriate level of resurfacing.

That does not mean we avoid stronger correction. When your skin is ready for more, we can progress the intensity. Redness is not the goal. Correction is.

You May Already Be Getting a Peel

One of the questions we hear surprisingly often is, “Should I get a peel?”

Sometimes our answer is: you already are.

Customized peeling is incorporated into our facial treatments when appropriate. Many guests simply do not realize it because they associate the word peel with leaving extremely red, blotchy, or uncomfortable. We believe effective resurfacing can look very different.

Think of a Peel as a Fresh Start

Professional peeling helps resurface excess surface buildup so we can better address uneven texture, clogged pores, breakouts, dark spots, visible sun damage, post-breakout discoloration, and visible signs of aging.

But the peel itself is only the beginning. After resurfacing, we focus on supporting the skin with appropriate professional ingredients, homecare, and protection.

We remove what the skin no longer needs, then support it with what it does.

What You Do at Home Matters Too

Great skin is not built during one appointment. The products you use before and after treatment matter, especially when we are working on pigmentation, texture, breakouts, or visible sun damage.

Our philosophy is not about using more products. It is about using the right products, at the right intensity, in the right order – and protecting the progress we make with appropriate homecare and mineral sunscreen.

Want Something More Intensive?

Tell us. Our approach is not about making every peel mild. It is about choosing the appropriate level of correction for your skin.

If your skin is healthy, prepared, and ready for more intensive resurfacing, your esthetician can customize accordingly. If you are new to us or your barrier needs support first, we may intentionally begin differently and progress over time.

We Strengthen Skin First – Then Refine It

That philosophy guides the way we treat skin at The Salt and Light Spa. We do not believe skin needs to be punished to improve. We believe in understanding it, supporting it, and correcting it intentionally.

We want correction – not unnecessary inflammation. We polish the skin. We do not peel it raw.
